Jika kalian ingin memainkan alat musik gitar, tentunya terlebih dulu senar gitar harus distem agar suaranya tidak fals. Ada beberapa cara yang dapat kita lakukan untuk menyetem gitar. Bisa menggunakan tuner maupun dengan cara menyamakan suara senar gitar. Sebenarnya metode ini sangat mudah dilakukan tapi kenyataannya dapat menyebabkan kebingungan. Mengapa? Karena kita harus melatih pendengaran dan kepekaan kita terhadap nada.

Cara dibawah ini sangat sering digunakan oleh pemain gitar untuk menyetem senar gitar dikarenakan paling gampang dan sederhana. Berikut cara menyetem gitar akustik tanpa menggunakan tuner ataupun aplikasi stem gitar.

Berikut ada beberapa cara untuk menyetem gitar :

1.      Cara menyetem gitar secara manual          

a.       Tekan senar 6 pada fret ke 5, sesuaikan nadanya dengan senar 5 yang dibunyikan tanpa menekan fret manapun.

b.      Tekan senar 5 pada fret ke 5, sesuaikan nadanya dengan senar 4 yang dibunyikan tanpa menekan fret manapun.

c.       Tekan senar 4 pada fret ke 5, sesuaikan nadanya dengan senar 3 yang dibunyikan tanpa menekan fret manapun.

d.      Tekan senar 3 pada fret ke 4, sesuaikan nadanya dengan senar 2 yang dibunyikan tanpa menekan fret manapun.

e.       Tekan senar 2 pada fret ke 5, sesuaikan nadanya dengan senar 1 yang dibunyikan tanpa menekan fret manapun.

2.      Menyetel berdasarkan urutan nada

Beberapa artikel atau mungkin hampir semua artikel yang membahas tentang cara menyetem (tuning) gitar telah memberi nada di setiap senarnya.

 Contohnya :

Senar 1 = E

Senar 2 = B

Senar 3 = G

Senar 4 = D

Senar 5 = A

Senar 6 = E

Padahal ketika kita pertama kali menyetem tanpa bantuan alat seperti tuner gitar kita tidak tahu seberapa tinggi nada E itu? Hal ini yang menyebabkan banyak orang yang pertama kali menyetem gitar merasa kebingungan bahkan ketika sudah mencoba cara di atas. Parahnya lagi ketika ia mencoba mengikuti sebuah alunan lagu dari handphone dan ternyata chord tersebut berbeda dengan chord yang ada di buku lagu. Bagaimana cara mengatasi hal ini?

3.      Cara menyetem tuning Standar

Mengapa menggunakan tuning standar? Jawabannya adalah tuning ini banyak sekali digunakan oleh kebanyakan gitaris dan lagu-lagu yang beredar di pasaran. Lalu bagaimana caranya menyetem supaya tuning kita menjadi standar tanpa menggunakan alat bantu seperti tuner gitar?

Langkah yang paling mudah adalah mencocokkan secara langsung dengan lagu yang kita dengar. Dalam hal ini usahakan mendengarkan lagu yang menggunakan chord E karena tuning yang E memungkinkan kita untuk mengetahui sebuah nada tanpa dipetik atau nada open string. Beberapa lagu yang sering menggunakan chord ini adalah Peterpan, seperti lagu Bintang di surga, Mimpi yang sempurna, Tak Bisakah yang intronya dimulai dengan chord E.

Caranya dengarkan chord pertama tersebut dan samakan nadanya dengan senar 6 pada gitar kita. Bila sudah terdengar sama maka langkah selanjut dapat menggunakan cara seperti yang sudah dijelaskan di atas. Selanjutnya tanpa kita sadari nada dari masing-masing senar kita adalah E,A,D,G,B,E dan ini merupakan tuning standar.

4.      Cara menyetem gitar dengan turning drop D

Untuk tuning drop D, kita tinggal menurunkan nada E pada senar 6 menjadi nada D atau untuk lebih mudah samakan dengan nada D pada senar 4. Tentu saja ini bisa kita lakukan setelah kita menyetem tuning gitar standar terlebih dulu.

1.      Jangan terburu ingin cepat bisa

Luangkan waktu minimal 15 menit setiap hari maksimalnya 2 jam jangan sampai lebih. Berlatihlah dengan konsentrasi penuh dan benar,karena dengan berlatih setiap hari akan membentuk sikap mental yang benar dan tubuh kita akan mengatur kecepatan yang kita inginkan. Jadi bila ingin jari-jari kita bisa cepat secara alami dalam bermain gitar di butuhkan latihan yang teratur dan tak terburu-buru untuk mewujudkannya.

2.       Bermain pelan dan akurat dulu pasti meningkatkan kecepatan

Jangan berlatih terlalu cepat,karena bisa-bisa jari kita akan sakit, dan bila jari-jari kita sakit itu tandanya belum saatnya kita bermain cepat. Hindari memakai metronome jika tidak terlalu penting karena sebaiknya tentukan sendiri kecepatan yang paling pas buatmu. Lakukan pemanasan sebelum bermain cepat dan usahakan tubuh tetap rileks.

3.       Pilih tempat berlatih yang tenang

Karena saat melakukan latihan gitar sebaiknya jangan sambil menonton tv atau ngobrol sama teman. Dengan berlatih di tempat yang tenang kita akan lebih bisa berkonsentrasi. Jadi pilih waktu berlatih yang sekiranya nggak ada sesuatu yang mengganggu jam berlatihmu.

4.      Jangan memaksakan dirimu

Usahakan permainanmu seimbang antara permainan yang keras dan yang lembut. Jadi jangan main yang keras terus, imbangi dengan permainan yang lembut. Dengan melakukan hal tersebut secara teratur maka kamu akan bisa menggunakan sebuah instrumen dengan baik.

5.      Stem Gitar

Stem gitar adalah proses kalibrasi nada pada dawai gitar dengan cara menkencang-kendurkan dawai gitar agar nada yang diperoleh sesuai nada aslinya. Nah proses ini butuh feeling yang pas, bagi yang sudah mahir akan sangat mudah. Jika gitar anda belum di stem maka anda dapat minta tolong teman untuk menstem gitar.

6.      Pilih Lagu yang Mau Dimainkan

Pilihlah lagu yang ingin anda mainkan, tapi jangan yang susah-susah dahulu. Batasi penggunaan kunci chord A-G + Am Bm Cm Dm Em dahulu. Pilih lagu yang mudah dahulu, seperti lagu yang berjudul “Rasa Ini” nya The Titan.

7.      Hafalkan Kunci
